[un] GOLF / Sport Tourism FORE-um is a guaranteed hole-in-FUN!
Engage in some sociable golf-themed competition, learning and B2B networking with your sport tourism colleagues from destinations across Canada, sport organizations, venues, hoteliers, educational institutions and other sport event professionals.
We’ll provide the ‘golf’ equipment and the sport tourism subject matter experts and you provide a willingness to share your own knowledge about sport tourism and learn from others, while embracing our love of lame golf jokes as you play through our indoor (faux) golf course. This is a truly unique event that is less golf and more of everything else you love about a golf tournament.
COVID 19 UPDATE:
Due to the ongoing pandemic, the 4th edition of [un] GOLF & Sport Tourism FORE-um that was originally scheduled for November 2020 and then was postponed to November 2021, has been put on hold. We look forward to seeing members of STC back ‘on the links’ when it is safe to do so. Keep your eye on this space for more info and updates!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
IS THIS EVENT AN ACTUAL GOLF TOURNAMENT?
The event is split into two different elements:
#1 – The Sport Tourism FORE-um (round table discussions offering professional development and sharing of best practices) #2 – [un] GOLF, a networking dinner event that includes a series of golf-like games and activities structured like a golf tournament.
HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE EXPECTED TO ATTEND THIS EVENT?
This event attracts 150+ attendees each year and was a sell-out in 2018 and 2019.
WHAT IS THE BREAKDOWN OF ATTENDEES? WHO IS THE TARGET AUDIENCE FOR THIS EVENT?
The room will be filled with 1/3 sport organizations who own the rights to events open for bid, 1/3 destinations (DMOs) and 1/3 industry suppliers (hoteliers, event management firms, venues, etc.).
DO I HAVE TO FIND MY OWN FOURSOME IF I WANT TO PLAY GOLF ON A TEAM AT [UN] GOLF?
You can register as a solo attendee or in a group of 2, 3 or 4. If you want to ‘play’ the course and earn points to be eligible to win the tournament trophy and prizes, you’ll need to be on a team. We will match up people into teams if you choose not to register a team of 4 people.
WHAT’S INCLUDED IN MY REGISTRATION FEE?
Your registration fee includes your attendance at both parts of the event, plus snacks and refreshments and parking. A full meal will be served at [un] GOLF in the evening. Our sponsors and partners have lots of gifts and prizes to be given away too!
IF I ONLY WANT TO ATTEND ONE PART OF THE EVENT, IS THERE A SEPARATE REGISTRATION OR A LOWER REGISTRATION FEE?
Registration fees include all parts of the event. However, during the online registration process, you will be asked to RSVP to indicate if you’re planning to attend the entire event or just some portion of it. There is no reduced fee if you choose not to partake in the entire event.
MY PLANS HAVE CHANGED, CAN I GET A REFUND?
There are no refunds, but you’re welcome to assign your registration to someone else in your place if you advise us of this on or before the registration change cut-off date.
I AM NOT A MEMBER OF STC. CAN I STILL ATTEND THIS EVENT?
This event is open to members of STC only, however, only one person in your group needs to be a member. So, if you register 2, 3 or 4 people together and one person is a member you’re all set. Become a member here
IS THIS AN ANNUAL EVENT?
Yes! This event takes place every October/November in Ottawa.

WHAT TYPES OF GAMES AND ACTIVITIES ARE BEING OFFERED AT [UN] GOLF? DO I NEED GOLF EXPERIENCE? IS THERE ANY EQUIPMENT REQUIRED?
No golf experience or golf equipment is required. It’s not a real golf tournament after all. A general overview of the list of the games and activities will be posted as we get closer (but we are deliberately somewhat vague to keep a few things a surprise).
WHAT IS THE DRESS CODE?
The event is very casual. We encourage golf attire (the wackier, weirder and louder the better). There are prizes to be won for clothing creativity.
IF I DON’T WANT TO BE PLACED IN A TEAM AT [UN] GOLF, CAN I STILL ATTEND?
Absolutely! Network and mingle and meet new people as you wish. No one is obligated to play the games or participate in the activities being offered.
